9. Has anyone documented procedures for setting up an Electronic Text Center?

Every academic institution has its own internal organization for handling the transition of technology into its administrative and academic structures. Many institutions have chosen the library as the bridge between the traditional paths of accessing information and the internet. Within the library, the Electronic Text Center is often seen as an outgrowth of the Reference collection of bibliographic databases and placed in the Reference section of the Library. Some etext centers are collaborations with departments, e.g., the Classics department at Rutgers University has its own resources for etext access and use. Often the Academic Computing Center is considered the best place for the technological and training expertise needed to set up a center. A designer for a new Electronic Text Center, whether in the Library or the Computing Center, should be aware that not everyone's planning solutions will work for you.
